A new poll shows that half of American voters think President Biden will forget where he is during the upcoming presidential debates. More than a third even think he might walk offstage by mistake.
According to the JL Partners poll released Thursday:
– 70% expect Biden, who is 81, to make mistakes when he talks during the TV debates.
– 40% think he’s so frail that he’ll have trouble standing up.
– 49% expect Biden to forget where he is.
– 41% think he’ll walk the wrong way off the stage.
Many voters believe former President Donald Trump will win the debate easily. In fact, 90% of Republicans are confident Trump will come out on top.
A recent incident at the G7 summit didn’t help Biden’s image. While watching a skydiving show in Italy, Biden started to wander off. The host nation’s prime minister, Giorgia Meloni, had to guide him back to the group.
White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said Biden was just congratulating one of the divers and giving a thumbs up.
Biden’s staff has admitted that he sometimes loses focus in private conversations as well as in public. If he wins a second term, he would be 86 by the end of it.
The upcoming debate in Atlanta will be the first time Biden and Trump face off in the 2024 election campaign.
