First Lady Jill Biden started the Seniors for Biden-Harris campaign, saying President Biden’s age is a benefit, not a problem.
“This election isn’t about age,” she said in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where they are using pickleball and bingo nights to engage older voters.
“Joe and Trump are about the same age. Let’s not be fooled,” she added. “Joe is one of the most effective presidents because of his age, not in spite of it.”
President Biden is 81 and former President Trump just turned 78. Both their ages have been talked about a lot. Biden’s mistakes and memory issues have put his age in the spotlight.
Special Counsel Robert Hur even described him as an “elderly man with a poor memory.”
Jill Biden has often said her husband’s age is a strength.
“This election is not about age. Donald Trump is 78 and Joe’s 81. They’re basically the same age,” she told “The View” last month. “This election is about character.”
“You have two choices: My husband Joe, who has integrity, strength, steadiness, leadership, intelligence, and energy — or you have chaos,” she said.
In January, Jill Biden said, “His age is an asset.”
“I see Joe every day traveling around the country with vigor, energy, and passion,” she said.
“He’s wise and experienced. He knows every world leader and understands history. He makes thoughtful decisions. He’s the right person for the job now,” she said.
In a February ABC News/Ipsos poll, 86% of Americans said Biden is too old to serve another term as president, while 62% said the same of Trump.
