Stop Denying: Democrats Need to Face Biden’s Cognitive Decline

After President Biden wandered away from the group of G-7 leaders during a parachuting demonstration, the White House claimed it was “fake news.”

Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates said Biden was just “congratulating one of the divers and giving a thumbs up.” But Biden was supposed to stay with the group, a rule all the other leaders followed.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak explained, “He went to shake all their hands because they had landed. He was being polite, but we were supposed to stand in one place.”

While going a bit off-script isn’t usually a problem, the other leaders looked worried and confused by Biden’s behavior until Italy’s Giorgia Meloni guided him back to the group.

The reaction from Biden’s supporters and fact-checkers shows a desperate attempt to prove he has the energy of a 40-year-old, five months before an election.

Everyone should ask: Is this who we want representing us on the world stage? Is this who should make crucial decisions affecting our nation and the world?

This wasn’t the only incident at the summit. G7 sources told The Sun that Biden has been “losing focus” and is “the worst he’s ever been.”

Maybe it’s due to heavy travel: flying to Normandy for the D-Day anniversary, back home, then to the summit. But his staff might be pushing him too hard to show he’s still capable, despite polls showing voters doubt it.

Biden’s decline isn’t just occasional; it’s becoming the norm. It’s worrying even his staff and Democrats in DC. Some told The Wall Street Journal that he often speaks so softly he can’t be understood, relies on notes and aides in meetings, and sometimes closes his eyes so long it seems he’s asleep.

There have been many public mistakes too. In February, he confused French President Emmanuel Macron with former President François Mitterrand, who died in 1996, and claimed he spoke with German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, who died in 2017, in 2021 after the Capitol riots.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said these mistakes happen “to all of us.” But they happen to Biden all the time and more frequently.

How long will Democrats deny what’s happening in front of everyone? In 2020, COVID kept Biden mostly at home, avoiding the usual campaign trail.

That was before 3.5 years in a job that ages every president. Even with frequent days off and early finishes, it’s a heavy burden.

Those closest to him should step in, but First Lady Jill Biden calls the idea of a competency test “ridiculous.” The White House staff might think they’re being loyal or enjoying their perks, but it’s cruel to pretend Biden can handle four more years in the world’s toughest job.

How much longer must we endure this charade?
