U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Friday that they have killed a high-ranking terrorist leader, Abu-‘Abd al-Rahman al-Makki, in Syria.
CENTCOM said the strike was a “targeted kinetic strike,” meaning a specific and precise attack. Al-Makki was a top leader in Hurras al-Din, a group that works with Al-Qaeda in Syria. He was in charge of managing terrorist activities in the region.
Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, the head of CENTCOM, stated, “CENTCOM is committed to defeating terrorists who threaten the U.S., our allies, and regional stability.”
Hurras al-Din and similar groups are known for opposing Western nations and allies, including the United States.
In a related development, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin recently announced that U.S. military forces will be repositioned across the Middle East to support Israel.
