Whitney Cummings made headlines for her bold jokes during CNN’s New Year’s Eve special. The comedian didn’t hold back, roasting CNN’s viewership and criticizing the Democratic Party for its lack of strong leadership.
“I’m now playing theaters with 3,000 seats, which is about CNN’s viewership these days,” Cummings joked to host Anderson Cooper during the live broadcast, joined by Bravo’s Andy Cohen.
She didn’t stop there, taking a jab at the Democrats’ support for President Joe Biden despite concerns about his age. “The Democrats couldn’t hold a primary this year. They were too busy holding up a body,” she said, referring to their decision to back Biden for reelection.
Cummings also criticized the party for not offering voters a choice. “The pro-choice party didn’t give their voters one when it came to their candidate,” she added, poking fun at the shift to Vice President Kamala Harris as the nominee. “Kamala was forced on us so hard you’d think she was patented by Pfizer.”
After a clip of her comments went viral with nearly 9 million views, Cummings responded, saying, “Please list the lies I told,” and noted that she carefully fact-checked her statements.
Even as Cummings delivered fiery jokes about CNN, Cooper and Cohen allowed her to continue, with Cohen commenting, “Wow, you’re all fiery today.”
