In December 2016, George Michael’s family announced his untimely passing through a statement released by the singer’s publicist.

The statement expressed deep sadness and confirmed that George had passed away peacefully at his home in Goring-on-Thames, a prestigious area in South Oxfordshire, Britain. He was 53 years old at the time of his death.

During the later years of his life, George had become somewhat reclusive, as revealed by a neighbor living in the area. According to the neighbor, George rarely left his house and was seldom seen in local pubs or restaurants.

He had adopted a more private lifestyle, keeping a low profile from public view. His passing shocked and saddened fans around the world, as the music industry lost a remarkable talent and a beloved figure.

Who Found George Michael’s Dead Body?

During the time of George Michael’s passing, his boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz, was living with him.

According to a neighbor, Fadi would occasionally run errands in Goring-on-Thames, including picking up food from a nearby cafe. However, the neighbor never saw George himself outside of his home.

Tragically, Fadi discovered George lifeless in bed on Christmas morning in 2016. Fadi shared his heartbreaking experience on Twitter, stating that it was a Christmas he would never forget.

In a later interview with The Daily Telegraph, Fadi provided more details about the devastating moment.

He explained that they were supposed to have Christmas lunch together, but when he went to wake George up, he found him peacefully lying in bed, already gone.

In the interview, Fadi expressed his grief and the profound impact of George’s loss.

He wanted people to remember George for the beautiful person he was and cherished the memories they shared.

The news of George Michael’s passing shook fans worldwide, and his music continues to resonate with people, keeping his legacy alive.

Following an inconclusive initial autopsy, a British coroner determined in March 2017 that George Michael’s cause of death was natural and attributed to heart disease and a fatty liver.

The senior coroner for Oxfordshire, Darren Salter, stated that the post-mortem revealed George had “dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.”

Dilated cardiomyopathy is a condition characterized by the stretching and weakening of the left ventricle of the heart, which impairs its ability to effectively pump blood.

Myocarditis refers to inflammation of the heart muscle.

In the months leading up to his passing, George was seen enjoying a dinner with friends in Oxfordshire, appearing to be in good spirits, according to reports from fellow residents of Goring-on-Thames.

Photographer Chris Craymer, who had worked with George, described him as not only immensely talented but also kind, sensitive, and a genuinely good person.

He remembered George for his empathy towards others, combining his exceptional talent with a remarkable personality.
